These terms are the agreement between you and Dhruv Sharma, sole proprietor for the use of UpahaarBox. By signing in or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
What UpahaarBox is
UpahaarBox is a coordination tool. A host lists the gifts they would like, guests reserve one so nobody duplicates it, and the purchase itself happens on a third-party store such as Amazon.in or Flipkart.
We are not a shop. We hold no stock, take no payment, set no prices and ship nothing. Every purchase is a contract between you and the store you bought from.
Your account
You need a Google account to sign in, and you must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep access to your Google account secure.
Give accurate information. Do not impersonate anyone, and do not create an account on someone else’s behalf without their permission.
Registries and roles
The person who creates a registry owns it and controls who else can act on it. Roles carry different powers: co-owners can manage people and details, editors can add and edit items, contributors can suggest items for approval, and guests can browse and reserve.
Owners can change or revoke any role at any time. Item-level actions are recorded in an audit log visible to the owner. If you are given a role, use it as the owner intended.
Invitations
Only invite people you know. Do not use invites, registry links or private messages to send unsolicited marketing, chain messages or anything a reasonable person would call spam.
An invited guest cannot open the registry until they accept the invite. Invites are matched to the verified email address on the invitee’s Google account, so an invite sent to one address cannot be claimed by another.
Reservations
Reserving a gift is a courtesy signal to other guests, not a payment or a binding commitment. If two guests try to reserve the last unit of an item at the same time, the first reservation wins and the second guest is asked to pick something else.
Please do not reserve items you do not intend to buy, and release a reservation if you change your mind, so another guest can take it.
Reveal and surprise mode
By default, hosts cannot see which items were reserved or bought, or by whom, until the reveal date. We build the product to protect that, but we cannot control what people tell each other outside UpahaarBox.
Product links, prices and availability
Item names, images, prices and availability come from the stores and can change without notice. We refresh them periodically but cannot guarantee that what you see here matches the store at the moment you click through. The store’s page is always the authority.
Links to gifts carry our affiliate tag. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, and we earn a commission as a Flipkart affiliate. This costs you nothing extra, does not change the price you pay, and does not influence what a host chooses to put on their list.
Purchases, delivery and returns
Everything about the purchase — payment, delivery, cancellation, returns, refunds, warranty and customer support — is handled by the store. We are not a party to that transaction and cannot intervene in it.
If a gift arrives damaged, late or not at all, the store is who you deal with.
Acceptable use
Use UpahaarBox for what it is for. You agree not to:
Misuse other people’s data: scrape registries, harvest email addresses, or use anything you see here to contact people outside the registry.
Break the product: probe, overload or attempt to bypass our access controls, rate limits or role permissions.
Post harmful content: anything illegal, abusive, hateful, obscene, or infringing someone’s intellectual property, including in notes and private messages.
Game affiliate links: self-refer, rewrite or strip affiliate tags, or generate clicks or purchases to manipulate commissions.
Use it commercially: run fundraising, resale or promotional campaigns through a registry without our written permission.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you put into UpahaarBox — your registry details, notes and messages. You give us permission to store and display that content to the people who are meant to see it, so we can run the service.
We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law. If you believe something on UpahaarBox infringes your rights, write to us and we will look into it.
Availability and changes
We are still building. Features may change, and the service may be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We do not promise uninterrupted availability.
A registry auto-archives 60 days after its event date and remains readable as a keepsake until deleted. Registries are not a backup — keep your own copy of anything you care about.
Suspension and closing your account
You can stop using UpahaarBox at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are legally required to.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of any gift, for the acts of any store, or for what other users of a registry do.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with UpahaarBox is limited to ₹5,000, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including disappointment, loss of surprise, or a gift that did not arrive in time. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 2019, or any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Delhi have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not take away your right to bring a claim where you live or work under the Consumer Protection Act 2019. Before going to court, please write to us — most things are quicker to fix that way.
Updates to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top and tell signed-in users about material changes before they take effect. Material changes take effect on the date we give, and continuing to use UpahaarBox after that date means you accept them. If you would rather not, you can delete your account at any time.
